This is my first year that I’m taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout. I'll be joining leaders across the country to spend one night outside in a powerful show of solidarity with the 122,000+ Australians experiencing homelessness.
But for many, this isn’t just one night — it’s every night.
Right now, women aged 50+ are the fastest-growing group of people experiencing homelessness in Australia. As a woman over 50, this issue hits home. Many of these women have worked their whole lives, raised families, cared for others — only to find themselves without a safe place to call home due to rising rents, job loss, relationship breakdowns or unexpected life events.
This could happen to any of us.
I’ve set a personal goal to raise $5,000 to support St Vincent de Paul Society’s frontline services — providing warm meals, safe accommodation, and long-term support to people doing it tough.
