A Night of Discomfort to Raise Homelessness Awareness and Support Funds

Each year, I take part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, spending one night sleeping outdoors on cardboard exposed to the elements. This experience can never truly replicate homelessness, but it offers a small glimpse into the nightly discomfort and vulnerability faced by those without a safe, secure home.

The Sleepout is an eye-opening event where we hear powerful stories directly from individuals who have experienced various forms of homelessness firsthand. From couch surfing and sleeping in cars, to taking shelter on park benches or in temporary accommodations when fortunate - their journeys underscore how quickly life circumstances can shift due to illness, domestic violence, job loss, or simply bad luck. For some, homelessness is an inescapable cycle they were born into as children.

Every night across Australia, thousands go without a roof over their head. The CEO Sleepout raises vital awareness and funds for the St Vincent de Paul Society's efforts to support Australians in need and break this devastating cycle of homelessness.
